One of my major goals this year is to start a flower garden. I’m typically not one to get my hands dirty, but in embracing my word of the year “venture”, I figured getting outside in the dirt would be the perfect way to lighten up a bit and try something new. New England has no shortage of beautiful flowers to choose from, so I’ve been scouring Pinterest to pick a couple that I love and could recreate in my own little plot of land! I’m in love with peonies and hydrangeas, and also plan to add Dianthus and Foxglove.
Gardening is, from what I’ve gathered from those who do it, one of life’s simple pleasures. You spend days and weeks tending to little seeds and dirt, but are rewarded with colorful blooms or delicious food. One of my favorite quotes is from Lara Casey, who says “peonies grow through the dirt, and so do we”; the perfect reminder in this huge season of change, that the best outcomes can come through the messiest of situations. Fingers crossed that I have at least a little green thumb- I will keep you all updated on my gardening progress!
